Role Overview

The Senior Director of Operations will serve as TKH’s strategic operational leader, ensuring that the organization’s resources are managed with integrity, transparency, and foresight. This role will oversee finance, human resources, facilities, data, and technology, ensuring TKH has strong operational procedures, reliable internal controls, and efficient infrastructure. They will supervise a team of three Operations staff members and manage external vendors, including the fractional CFO, our PEO, and an IT firm. This leader will also help set a vision that advances organizational culture and professional development goals across the organization.

Strategic Planning & Operations (50%)

  • Lead the development and execution of TKH's operational strategy, ensuring organizational systems, processes, and resources are aligned with strategic priorities, growth objectives, and programmatic goals.
  • Serve as the bridge between executive leadership and frontline execution, translating organizational strategy into scalable operational plans, clear accountability structures, and measurable outcomes.
  • Oversee day-to-day organizational operations across programs, finance, technology, facilities, and administrative functions to ensure efficiency, consistency, and high-quality execution.
  • Ensure all regional teams operate in alignment with TKH’s national strategy, policies, operational standards, and organizational priorities while maintaining responsiveness to local market needs.
  • Monitor regional performance through key operational, financial, and programmatic metrics, identifying risks, opportunities, and support needs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Establish and oversee standardized operating procedures, reporting structures, and performance expectations across all regions to ensure consistency, accountability, and quality execution.
  • Oversee Salesforce CRM management, training, and data governance to ensure accurate, complete, and timely organizational data for reporting, fundraising, program performance, and strategic planning.
  • Develop, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate organizational effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement, and drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Oversee regional compliance with Salesforce data entry standards, reporting requirements, and data governance policies, ensuring accurate, timely, and consistent information across all regions to support organizational performance management, funder reporting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that streamline workflows, reduce operational inefficiencies, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and support organizational scalability.
  • Build and maintain operational policies, procedures, and systems that promote compliance, risk mitigation, and operational excellence across all regions and programs.
  • Partner with department leaders to ensure staffing structures, operational workflows, and resource allocation support organizational goals and future growth.
  • Partner with the Chief Financial Officer to lead annual and multi-year financial planning, including program, site, and student-level cost analysis to support strategic planning, sustainability, and funding decisions.
  • Collaborate with program, finance, and development teams to develop grant budgets, financial forecasts, and resource allocation plans that align with organizational priorities and funder requirements.
People Operations Oversight and Compliance (25%)

  • Ensure consistent implementation of HR policies, performance management practices, employee relations procedures, and compliance requirements across all regional offices and teams.
  • Partner with regional leaders to support talent management, workforce planning, employee engagement, succession planning, and professional development initiatives across the organization.
  • Oversee TKH’s partnership with the Professional Employer Organization (PEO), ensuring compliance with labor laws and HR policies.
  • Develop and implement TKH’s organizational culture strategy, reinforcing equity, inclusion, and employee engagement.
  • Oversee the annual performance management cycle, including goal setting, feedback, and evaluations.
  • Support equitable and competitive compensation practices and employee development opportunities.
  • Ensure consistent HR compliance and reporting.
  • Oversee staff to ensure TKH maintains strong systems and processes that enable full compliance and reporting with all federal, state, and local legal and regulatory requirements
  • Oversee TKH’s contract creation process for all contractors and vendors to ensure contracts are secured, allocated, budgeted, tracked, and in compliance
  • Lead organization-wide management of legal affairs, liability, insurance, and other risk management strategies, updating TKH policies annually
  • Lead, coach, and develop high-performing operations teams, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and service excellence.
  • Establish performance management systems, professional development opportunities, and operational training programs that strengthen organizational capacity and employee effectiveness.
Technology and Facilities Management (25%)

  • Oversee TKH’s facilities and IT infrastructure, including equipment, software, and hardware inventory management, and create clear and effective policies for asset management.
  • Manage vendor and facility relationships, including contracts, leases, and insurance.
  • Oversee the procurement, inventory management, deployment, and lifecycle management of all fellow and staff technology assets, ensuring timely access to required hardware, software, equipment, and digital tools to support uninterrupted program delivery and an exceptional participant experience.
  • Liaise with the landlord, as needed, and ensure compliance with the lease
  • Lead TKH in developing a comprehensive vendor management policy while representing TKH to external vendors and operational partners
  • Set the direction for TKH's data strategy and ensure SOPs are developed and maintained.
  • Oversee the implementation and org-wide adoption of Salesforce as the organization's primary CRM and data platform, ensuring each department has accurate, useful dashboards and Salesforce SOPs.
  • Oversee the buildout and maintenance of necessary IT infrastructure, systems, and policies, ensuring a seamless staff experience and adoption of TKH's primary platforms.
  • Lead cybersecurity risk management, ensuring policies, training, and protections are in place to prevent and respond to cyber threats.
  • Guide organizational data strategy and ensure proper safeguards for sensitive information.
Qualifications

Experience:
  • 6+ years of experience managing and developing team members
  • HR oversight experience, including culture-building and performance management
  • Experience with compliance, risk management, facilities, IT, data, and vendor management
  • Fluent in Salesforce 
  • Fluent in Asana, Slack, and Google Suite
  • Familiarity with GAAP, Microsoft Excel, and QuickBooks preferred

Compensation and Benefits

  • $130,000-$155,000 per year (New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary closer to the start of the range, depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role)

Hybrid Work at TKH

All full-time staff are expected to come into a TKH office or the field (community and industry events, including conferences or travel for work) 1-2 days per week, and the Leadership Team will be encouraged to come into a TKH office at least two times per week. There will be one consistent team day a week that will vary by team. Please note that there are some roles that may require being on-site more based on the job responsibilities. 

In addition to the 1 team day, there will be weeks when the expectation is 2 days/week based on required meetings. These may include all staff meetings, department stepbacks, professional development, retreats, events, or other purposeful reasons, as requested by your supervisor or team lead.
